Today GPR us being used for various applications like utility mapping, concrete inspection, archaeology, void detection etc. Like any other geophysical tools, GPR also has great capabilities and limitations. Unlike most geophysical tools, GPR is regularly used by even non-geophysicists also, with very little understanding of technical aspects of this technique, leading to errors and misconceptions.

About the Course

The incorrect and inappropriate use of GPR has over the years caused a great deal of damage to its reputation as a bona fide and reliable technology. The objective of this ground penetrating radar course is to make the participants familiar with basic as well as advanced data acquisition, data processing and interpretation techniques to derive maximum amount of information from data collected.

  • Utility detection and mapping
  • Concrete inspection (voids, delamination, rebar etc.)
  • Pavement inspection (thickness of various layers etc.)
  • Void detection

  • Any other topic/ application of interest of participants.
  • Numerous practical tips for effective GPR utilization based on 3 decades of experience.

How will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered through a Learning Management System (LMS), where pre-recorded lectures, videos, presentation, reading material etc. will be uploaded, so that participants can go through these at their own pace, within the time frame of 3 months. Live sessions also will be organized wherein participants can directly interact with experts and raise their queries. Preferred mode of receiving questions would remain through email, enabling development of a comprehensive Q&A.
